Workforce

HLPAE Workforce Department understands that the greatest barrier to education is money.  Therefore, this department is committed to finding funding partners that can help support our student’s education.

HLPAE Workforce Department is proud to inform everyone, not only of our continued relationship with Workforce Investment Boards throughout Los Angeles County but has extended its reach to Orange County Workforce Investment Board. Hacienda La Puente Adult Education is developing a partnership with the Orange County Workforce Investment Board to begin offering OC residents funded training opportunities. This agreement will allow Hacienda La Puente Adult Education to expand its services to include and accept training dollars and support service for OC residents when providing individualized career training under Workforce Investment Act (WIA) vendor agreements.

In addition, the WIB’s specialize in helping jobseekers gain the skills and confidence necessary to set a path that leads to self-sufficiency and long-term employment.  Also, HLPAE works with over 20 Worksource Centers throughout Los Angeles County in an effort to find funding mechanisms and solutions for our student that do not qualify for PELL Grants.  This opportunity to expand our reach will draw more students that are fully funded to our school for training.

Veterans: Breakfast and Hiring

The Veteran Breakfast and Hiring Event was a great collaboration between HLPAE, EDD (West Covina, Pomona and El Monte) and MCS (Manage Career Solutions). The final count of Veterans looking for employment was 91 veterans, 15 employers and 5 apprenticeship.  This event was different than a job fair because the actual employers had openings and were interviewing and hiring on the spot. Approximately, 25 Veterans were hired on the spot and many others invited for a second interview.
